On the morning of November 26, 2022 a panga style boat with multiple persons was observed in the Pacific Ocean off the Imperial Beach shore. The boat was witnessed to overturn, and a nearby resident saw the overturned boat and persons in the ocean and contacted 911 for assistance. Lifeguards responded to assist, and additional agencies were dispatched to the scene. The decedent was brought to shore and assessed by paramedics. The woman did not survive.
